The Oddcircuits JTAG cable is the result of customer requests. We're often asked "what do you use for jtagging?". This is it. It's not a revolutionary new design, it's not technologically superior to all other comparable products, It's a simple JTAG cable that plugs into a header installed on the top pads. It's simple, reliable, easy to install, and easy to use. Sometimes it just doesn't pay to try to improve on something that works perfectly.

Contrary to the popular myth, Simple JTAG cables will not damage your receiver or computer if they're wired properly. We've been using these for more than a year on all types of receivers and have yet to see a single incident of damage.

It works by installing header pins onto the top JTAG pads and plugging in the cable. When you're finished jtagging, leave the pins there. The next time you need to jtag, just quickly plug in the cable and you're connected. It's simple, convenient, and reliable.

The JTAG cables ship with two 40 pin strips of header pins, enough to install in several receivers and use the same cable between them. More header is available through most electronics distributors It's standard .10 SIP header (AMP part number 4-103239-0) We can also supply you additional header material at competitive prices.

There are two types of JTAG cables. The Universal cable works on all 2700, 2800, 3700, 3800, 3900, 4700, 4900, 301.013, 501, 508, 5X00, and all 510/5900 equipped with JTAG pads.

The 3100 cable works on all 301.005, 301.010, and 3100 receivers. The two cables are not interchangeable because the layout of the topside JTAG pads is different on 301/3100 receivers.

We can also provide you with a 6' DB25 Male to Female cable and a clip lead for your ground pin connection if you don't already have these things at your bench.

The complete kit includes both JTAG cables, 10 Header strips, a 6' DB25 M x F Cable, and a clip lead.
